Many people spend their lives trying to fit in. They spend ridiculous amounts of money trying to look the part. They waste so much time trying to be who they are not.
I, however, am my business. My life is my business. If I am not right with myself, it doesn’t matter if I am not right with someone else – or a group of someone elses. I need to know what I want. I need to know what is good for me. I need know what works and what doesn’t work in the various areas of my life. And I need to have the fortitude to make necessary changes.
What is normal for me is what is right for me – not what looks right to someone else or a standard set by someone else. I am the judge and driver of my norm. My norm has everything to do with what works for my life. If I have to rock a boat in order to correct myself, so be it. If I have to withdraw from the crowd in order to be who I am, so be it. If I have to backtrack and redo something for a better outcome, then so be it. I am only measuring myself against myself. That within itself is freedom from a lifetime of self-oppression.
You do you and I’ll do me and together we’ll be just fine.
